FERAL SCIENCE, CHAPTER FOUR
By Kitsune
Yari landed with a thump as she jumped down from the tree. She grinned even more as she waggled her ankle
around, pleased to see that it was as good as new. Still grinning as brightly as ever, Yari did a little hop and an
experimental cartwheel. She messed up on the cartwheel and fell over about halfway through, but she didn't mind
even when she scraped her elbow on a rock. She looked up one last time at Gohan's window, grinned again, and ran
off into the woods. The next day...
"GO-HAAN!!! TIME TO GET UP!!!" Gohan groaned and rolled over in bed, burying his face in his pillow. It couldn't be morning already. Maybe the clock had stopped or something. Yeah, that was it. The clock must've stopped, or his mom had read the time wrong. If that was the case, he could go back to sleep. Gohan sighed and pulled up his covers, closing his eyes. Just as he was beginning to drift back to sleep, his alarm clock started ringing like mad. He rolled over again to face his bedside table and blew up the clock with a ki blast. He rolled over once again and looked out the window. Sure enough, the sun was shining as brightly as ever. With a sigh, Gohan hauled himself out of bed and started to get dressed.
Yari sat on a rock by the edge of a small pond, holding one end of her stick with both hands. The other end had a
length of twine with a piece of raw meat attached to it. The twine was floating listlessly in the water. In other words,
Yari was doing her own weird version of fishing.
All of a sudden, Yari sprang to her feet, jerking upward fiercely on the stick. She had a bite, and she sure as heck
wasn't going to let it get away. Finally, with one final viscous tug, she hauled her fish up onto the bank. She took out a
small knife from her belt and killed it with one quick slice.
As she cleaned and gutted her fish, she thought back to her brief stay in Gohan's room. He was just about the only
person she'd met who didn't want to kill her when he saw her antennae In fact, he was the only person who had
managed to get her bandana off and see her antennae in the first place...
All of a sudden, Yari's eyes widened. She dropped the both knife and her fish. The bandana! She'd forgotten her
bandana in Gohan's room!A lone pair of eyes peeked out from behind the trees surrounding the Son household, surveying the area. *Good*,
Yari thought to herself, *nobody around. I just climb up tree, sneak in through window, grab bandana, and go out
window again.* Looking around one more time just to see if anybody was watching, Yari crept out from behind a tree
and then made a mad dash for the side of the house. Once she reached the tree outside Gohan's window, she
looked around again, just in case, and levered herself onto the lowest branch. In a matter of seconds she was at the
top, staring in dismay at the window. It was closed shut with the curtains drawn. Talk about throwing a monkey wrench
into the machinery...
Well, there was nothing else for it. She'd have to go in through the door up front. It was more open and dangerous,
but it was the only way. Yari took a deep breath and jumped down from the tree, landing on all fours. She looked
around again, and took off on another mad dash for the front door. She opened the door as slowly as possible, knowing that the slightest creak could give her position away. Her
eyes darted from one end of the hallway to the other, she couldn't see anybody, but she could hear the television set
blaring away and the hissing sound of boiling water in the kitchen. Satisfied that nobody knew she was here, she
slowly crept up the stairs. She had to open a few doors in order to see which room belonged to Gohan, but eventually
found it. She snuck in and looked around. Eventually her eyes fell on a tattered, dirty, bloodstained piece of cloth under
his bed. She grinned despite herself. This was actually pretty easy, this sneaking around in other people's houses business. Yari got down on her knees and crawled halfway under the bed, groping around for her bandana. Finally she grabbed onto the piece of cloth. She emerged from under the bed, covered with dust, but triumphantly holding her bandana in one hand and grinning like an insane coyote. Okay, now all that mattered was getting out of here
She inspected every inch of the window, but couldn't figure out how to undo the lock that held it closed. Dang. That
meant that she would have to get out of here the way she came in; through the front door. Oh well. It wasn't much
trouble before; it probably would be just as easy now. She hoped.
She hurriedly tied her bandana around her head and set off down the stairs, as cautiously as possible, being extra
careful not to make any noise.Yari glanced around once more, just to be safe, and took off down the hallway at a run. Heh, this is too easy she
thought to herself.
That was when she crashed head on into Chi Chi.
They both yelped in surprise and jumped back.
"Wh-who are you and what are you doing in my house?!" Chi Chi shrieked. Yari, who was actually just as freaked
as Chi Chi, stood there panicked.
"Y-you Go-haan's "M-mom"? Yari squeaked. Chi Chi's eyes widened.
"How do you know my son, you... you..." Chi Chi looked around wildly for a weapon, and finally grabbed a broom
which was leaning against the wall. Then she noticed Yari's fangs. Needless to say, her eyes bugged out quite a bit
and her jaw dropped. Goku curiously poked his head out the living room door.
"What's going on, Chi Chi? Do you need any help?" Chi Chi shook her head and glared at Yari fiercely, with a
determined look on her face.
"No Goku, I can handle this this delinquent by myself, thank you very much."
"Okay!" Goku said cheerfully. With that, his head disappeared back into the living room. Yari immediately took up a
fighting position. She still looked slightly panicked, but just as determined as Chi Chi.
"Back off mom thing, let Yari through!" she yelled.
"What are you... I'M NOT YOUR MOM!!!!"
"Why you think I say you mom?! You senile or something?!"
"Hey Mom, I got the firewood you--GACK!!!! Yari?! What the heck are you doing here?! Are you nuts?!"
Yari looked over Chi Chi's shoulder and saw Gohan standing in front of the door.
"Gohan! Does this this juvenile delinquent know you?! Who have you been hanging around with lately?!" Chi Chi
cried. Yari narrowed her eyes. She didn't like being called a juvenile delinquent, and even though she didn't know what
it meant, she had a feeling that it wasn't meant to be a compliment.
"PERVERT LADY!!!!!" Chi Chi's eyes narrowed in anger.
"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!"
"Pervert lady! Pervert lady! Pervert lady!!!!!"
"Um... Mom... this is Yari"
"YOU'RE ASKING FOR IT, YOUNG LADY!!"
"Just try, Pervert lady!"
"Yari this is my mom, Chi Chi"
"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE, you you"
"Get out of way, pervert lady Chi Chi!"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!!!" At this point, Gohan decided he should probably give up on the introductions before this turned into a full-scale catfight.
"H-hey, stop it!!! Yari, you can't fight my mom!" Yari gave Chi Chi one last death look before looking over at Gohan
again.
"Why not, pervert boy?"
"DON'T YOU DARE CALL MY SON A PERVERT!!!" Yari glanced over at Chi Chi again, looking very annoyed.
"Butt out, pervert lady Chi Chi. None business of you."
There was a deathly silence for a few minutes as Chi Chi digested this last comment. All of a sudden her eyes
narrowed and her grip tightened around the broom handle, looking like if she held it any tighter it would snap.
"That's it," she said in a dangerously calm voice. "You've invaded my house for no reason and you called my son
and I a pervert even though neither of us have done anything to deserve that title. Frankly I've had enough, so I'm just
going to end... this... NOW!!!" Chi Chi suddenly swung her broomstick at Yari's head. Yari ducked just in time, but the
broom scraped against her forehead and shoved her headband off. She stood up, arms akimbo, looking very
indignant.
"What hell you think doing?! That hurt!!"
Chi Chi didn't answer. Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped quite a bit though. She pointed a shaky finger at Yari's
forehead.
"You...you..." Eventually she trailed off and promptly fainted.
"What her problem?" Yari asked, sounding very annoyed.
"Um... your bandana...came off" Gohan pointed out. Yari glanced down at the floor and saw her bandana lying on
the ground.
"Oh. Kuso." She squatted down on the floor next to Chi Chi and started poking her with her stick. "Pervert lady kick
bucket or something?"
"Hey, Chi Chi, when's dinner gonna be ready? I'm starving!" Goku said as he stepped out of the living room. He
stopped for a second when he saw Yari, but immediately grinned and waved. "Oh, hi! Who are you?" Before either of
them could answer, Goku noticed Chi Chi.
"Hey, Chi Chi, are you okay? Why are you lying on the floor like that?"
"Um... dad... she fainted." Gohan said. Yari was looking over Goku, sizing him up. All of a sudden she sprang to
her feet and pointed an accusing finger at him.
"Pervert man number two!!!" Goku raised an eyebrow, obviously confused. Gohan sighed and shook his head. "I
don't think I even want to know who number one is..."
"Why exactly am I a-- Hey, cool! You kinda look like Piccolo! Are you two related or something?" Yari scowled. She had to remember to put that bandana on sooner. This was just starting to get annoying. She glanced back over her
shoulder at the door. No dice. Gohan was standing right in front of it, and it was shut.
All of a sudden, somebody rang the doorbell. Gohan shrugged and opened the door slowly. Kuririn stepped in,
grinning as usual.
"Hi Goku! Hey... um... what's Chi Chi doing on the floor?" Goku shrugged.
"I dunno. She fainted." Yari's eyes lit up. The door was wide open. She wouldn't get a better chance than this. She
immediately made a mad dash for the door. Gohan jumped to the side to get out of her way, and accidentally bumped
into Kuririn in the process. Kuririn wobbled around off balance and fell flat on his face in front of the door. Yari charged
out the door at breakneck speed, unintentionally trampling Kuririn in the process. She stopped outside for a second
and turned to Kuririn.
"By way, You pervert man three."
Then she ran off into the woods.
"Why does this kind of stuff always happen to me..." Kuririn groaned.
